About the Hong Kong and Kowloon Neighborhood Women's Association

The Hong Kong and Kowloon Neighborhood Women's Association was founded in 1969 by Mr. Chow Sun Fong-chung BBS MBE, JP. It is a non-profit voluntary service organization. In its early years, the Association noted the rising rate of youth crime, particularly during the long summer vacation, when idleness often led young people to be lured by unscrupulous elements and led them astray. Therefore, the Association launched a "Youth Moral Education Movement" every summer, offering a variety of short-term technical and language training courses. The Association hoped to cultivate good moral character among young people through group activities and reduce youth crime. With decades of history, the Association is considered the pioneer of summer youth activities in Hong Kong.

Since the 1980s, the Hong Kong and Kowloon Neighborhood Women's Association has been committed to developing education. They have successively opened four kindergartens, a preschool, a primary school with morning and afternoon sessions, and a senior citizen center. In September 2002, they successfully opened a subsidized secondary school, completing the Association's goal of providing a "through-train" education system. Facing Tolo Harbour, the secondary school, occupying 7,000 square meters and nestled against the mountains and facing the sea, offers a beautiful setting. It actively promotes biliteracy and trilingual education and provides high-quality education.

A key feature of the Hong Kong and Kowloon Neighborhood Women's Association's educational offerings is the use of Mandarin as the medium of instruction in all its kindergartens, primary schools, and secondary schools. This has contributed significantly to the promotion of Mandarin and the improvement of Chinese proficiency. Each of its affiliated institutions has achieved remarkable success and is widely praised by the community.
