Bring Your Own Device (BYOD)
Student Acceptable Use Policy (AUP)
Definitions used:
- BYOD stands for Bring Your Own Device.
- A device is an iPad, laptop, or any similar product approved by the school.
- Students must use the device in the classroom under the direct supervision of the teacher.
- Students may request permission to bring devices to school for academic purposes.
Here’s what we’re talking about: Filtering and Supervision:
The school filters the content of students' Internet use. However, inappropriate information may bypass the filter.
Students should report such incidents to their teachers or the IT team. Students will be held accountable for intentionally circumventing zone filters and security.
Wireless network use may be monitored and/or logged to ensure network security and student safety.

All devices must be registered with the school's IT team. The school reserves the right to monitor, access and inspect all devices.
This includes, but is not limited to, personal email and internet access.
Safety and certification:
Students must set a password for their own devices and should not lend them to other students. Students must publish a password for their own devices.
Students are responsible for any information they share. Students should install protective measures on their devices and use them with caution to avoid damage.
Keep your personal device safe and back up your personal data. If you lose your device or your data is lost due to any accident,
The school will not bear any legal responsibility for the destruction or loss of data.
The IT team will affix labels to the back of the registered devices. These labels must not be removed or altered. If the labels are damaged
If it is lost, students can contact the IT team for a replacement.
Guidelines:
The following are guidelines for students using personal devices on campus:
- Students may only use school-approved and registered devices under the supervision of a teacher or with the teacher's approval.
- Students should obtain prior permission from their subject teachers before using devices during class.
- Students may only use their devices for educational purposes. If students wish to use their devices for research purposes, they should inform their subject teachers in advance of the research areas or sites they wish to access and seek their approval.
- Students are prohibited from using their devices for entertainment purposes (e.g., listening to music, watching videos not related to studies, etc.).
- Playing games is strictly prohibited.
- Students are not allowed to use/access any social networking sites (e.g., Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, etc.) while on campus.
- Students are not allowed to use any instant messaging applications (such as WhatsApp, WeChat, Telegram, etc.) on campus.
- Students may only use their devices to communicate with others on campus with permission from their teacher. This includes communicating with parents, other students, or people outside of the school.
- Students can only access the internet through the school's wireless network, not through their own private mobile networks (e.g., 4G LTE). The school only allows students to use Wi-Fi-only devices.
- Students cannot connect their devices to any network via Ethernet cables.
- Students may only use earphones to listen to audio files on campus with permission from their teachers. The volume should be kept at a level that does not disturb others.
- Students must comply with copyright laws.
- Students are not allowed to take photos or record videos/audios without the teacher's permission. Violations of these policies will result in device suspension.
- Students may not use their devices to engage in inappropriate communications. These include, but are not limited to, harassment, bullying, threats, personal attacks; sharing obscene or vulgar language or images that could be harmful to an individual or the school; and posting information that endangers national security.
- Students should not share their usernames and passwords with others.
- The school is not responsible for any devices brought to school that are lost, damaged or stolen.
Consequences of violation:
Bringing your own device is a privilege, not a right. Students who fail to follow the guidelines will be subject to disciplinary action by the school. The detailed penalties are as follows:

Less than 5 times: |
Teachers can ask students to hand over their devices and keep them temporarily in the school office until Pick it up after school. |

5-10 times: |
2 conduct points will be deducted and will be returned after the next school day. |

More than 10 times: |
A shortcoming will be recorded and handed to the teacher for safekeeping during each class when not in use. The teacher will then sign the grade for that class. This observation period will last for one week. If performance is not good, the observation period will be extended. |
If a student is found to have violated this Agreement or other school policies, the student's device may be inspected and/or confiscated.
Students who violate this agreement will be punished with warnings, demerits and/or loss of the right to bring devices to school.
The Commission reserves the right to impose more severe sanctions at any time depending on the nature of the violation.
