Personal Hygiene Guidelines for Students (2020 Edition)
Before returning to school:
- Students must take their temperature daily and bring a signed temperature record to school. If you feel unwell or have a fever (above 99.5°F or 37.5°C), you should seek medical attention immediately and not return to school.
- Students must wear masks and must not take them off at will (including when riding school buses or public transportation) to avoid the chance of virus infection.
- Students must prepare personal disinfection supplies, masks and drinking water.
Upon arrival at school:
- When entering the campus, students must wear masks, step on the disinfected carpet and disinfect their hands with alcohol spray or hand sanitizer.
- Students must show the temperature measurement record form signed by their parents to the teacher or leader on duty and go to the elevator lobby to undergo temperature checks.
- If students develop a fever (above 99.5°F or 37.5°C) or respiratory symptoms, the school will arrange for them to wait in the medical room or a private room for family or guardians to pick them up. (While waiting, they must sit in a single-sided position, maintain a distance of at least 1.5 meters from others, and avoid face-to-face contact or communication with others.) Students are advised to seek medical attention as soon as possible. In serious or critical cases, the school will call an ambulance to the emergency room.
During class:
- Seats in all classrooms are arranged in single rows, and appropriate distance should be maintained between tables to reduce close contact between students.
- Keep the classroom well ventilated.
- Keep the classroom clean and do not throw away waste or masks at will.
- Sanitize hands with alcohol-based hand sanitizer before entering classrooms and special rooms.
- It is not advisable to engage in contact sports during physical education classes, and it is not advisable to engage in wind instrument training during music classes.
- Students should avoid gathering in the locker room and maintain hygiene. If there is a physical education class on that day, students can wear their physical education uniforms to school.
- Do not share personal items such as stationery, towels, water bottles, combs, etc.
- Masks must be worn and cannot be taken off without the teacher's instructions.
During breaks or lunch:
- Students should maintain appropriate social distance during breaks, while participating in activities, or while queuing in the restroom or at the canteen.
- Wash your hands with soap before eating. (Please refer to the Seven-Step Handwashing Guide for handwashing instructions.)
- If necessary, students can eat dry food in the classroom.
- All drinking fountains on campus will be temporarily unavailable. Students are required to prepare their own drinking water. Hot water is available from the School Office if needed.
- A maximum of three students are allowed to sit at each table in the snack bar. The student must face the locker room with his or her back to the snack bar to reduce the possibility of students being infected with the virus through droplets due to taking off their masks while eating.
- The snack bar only provides dry food to facilitate students to eat in the classroom.
- Do not share eating utensils or food with classmates.
- After eating, you must immediately clean the table and chairs, wash your hands with soap, and wear a mask.
After using the toilet:
- Flush the toilet immediately after using it.
- Cover the toilet seat before flushing (toilet cubicles without toilet seats are not allowed to be used) to avoid splashing of sewage.
- Wait until the flushing water stops before opening the toilet seat cover.
- Wash your hands thoroughly with liquid soap and dry them with a paper towel.
- Temporarily stop using the hand dryer.
After school:
- Keep wearing a mask on your way home.
- Go home as soon as possible and avoid lingering in crowded or poorly ventilated places.
- Take off the mask, put it in a plastic bag and discard it, then wash your hands and change into home clothes immediately.
Extracurricular activities :
- All ball games are prohibited in the morning, during recess, lunch and after school.
- The basketball court on the fifth floor is temporarily closed.
- No contact basketball games are allowed on the basketball court.
- Students must wash their hands after any activity.
- If classes are held full day, lunch break will end early at 1:20pm to allow students enough time to use the restroom and wash their hands.
- If classes are held full day, all students must leave school before 6:00 p.m. unless accompanied by a teacher.
- If the class is half-day, all students must leave the school before 2:00 p.m. unless they are led by the teacher.
Mask handling method :
- If students need to replace their masks, please drop off the old masks in the "Mask Collection Box" next to the School Office.
- If students need to request a replacement mask from the school, each person is limited to one per day (except in special circumstances).
