Student Growth Support Group

  • Through systematic data collection (e.g. APASO, stakeholder questionnaires, student home situation questionnaires, registration forms, etc.) and daily observations (e.g. student attendance, behavioral performance, etc.), we can accurately identify students' various growth support needs, formulate appropriate strategies, and provide students with different types of developmental, preventive and remedial activities or counseling services.
  • Create a caring campus and inclusive culture to help students build good interpersonal relationships and support each other.
  • Supervise the implementation of healthy campus policies and help students grow healthily.

 

Functions of the Counseling Team:

  • Establish a clear mechanism to identify students with special educational needs early and make appropriate use of the Secondary School Learning Support Grant to help the students concerned.
  • Establish a clear referral process to provide appropriate counselling or support to students in need as soon as possible. Invite educational psychologists to provide assessment services for students when necessary.
  • Regularly recruit senior students, provide training, and promote peer tutoring.
  • Regularly hold student support meetings to review students’ current needs (e.g., interpersonal relationships, addiction issues, etc.) and provide appropriate follow-up.
  • Coordinate with the on-campus social workers to assign counselors to follow up on individual cases and provide consultation and guidance to the students involved.
  • Maintain contact with on-campus social workers and Ren Ai Tang, introduce external resources, and co-organize activities.
  • Design and provide appropriate admission adaptation counseling and follow-up services to help new students integrate into school life as quickly as possible, such as: summer transition classes for new students.
  • Utilize the Student Activities Support Grant to plan various activities to provide opportunities for students with financial difficulties and enrich their life experiences.
  • Coordinate the evaluation of the ten major character traits by parents, class teachers and students.

 

Training functions:

  • Cultivate students' discipline through the formulation, implementation and review of school rules, reward and punishment systems and related activities.
  • To guide students in proper manners and behavior, and conduct regular reviews and reminders to foster a pure school spirit.
  • Manage crowd flow during large-scale events on or off campus to provide students with a harmonious and orderly campus life.
  • Assist and support class teachers in handling and following up on students with poor attendance.
  • Assist and support subject teachers in handling and following up on students who violate regulations.
  • Regularly recruit discipline leaders and provide training to assist teachers in maintaining discipline in school.
  • Cooperate with the counseling team, attend relevant case meetings, and recommend disciplinary guidelines and follow-up plans.
  • Teachers are assigned to work inside or outside the school to help students solve different problems.
  • Coordinate the input of student attendance and reward and punishment data.
  • Coordinate with the on-campus social worker to handle and follow up on student issues.
  • Liaise with the School Liaison Officer of the Police Community Relations Unit to arrange school talks, activities or interviews with students in need.
  • Coordinate school-wide photo day.

 

Further studies and career counseling group
  • Through various activities, students are inspired to set learning or life goals at different learning stages and make career plans early.
  • Through arranging training, visits, seminars and lectures, we help students understand their interests, abilities, needs and aspirations, cultivate a positive learning and work attitude, and make the best preparation for further studies or employment.
  • Providing students with information on local and overseas further studies, career requirements and the job market, helping them to understand the latest trends in further studies and the job market.
  • Help students master various test-taking, job-hunting, interviewing and other skills, so that they can formulate and implement their own study and employment plans.
  • Through various activities, students are reminded how to avoid different pitfalls when pursuing further studies or job hunting.
  • Coordinate university joint admissions matters and provide guidance to students on subject selection.
  • Coordinate high school subject selection matters and explain the requirements and prospects of different subject selections to parents and students.
  • Provide individual or group counselling on further studies and careers to students in need. Provide immediate counselling to students in need when public examination results are released.
  • In line with the development of the New Senior Secondary School, help students make good use of e-class to store their learning files or experiences, and guide them in writing personal learning profiles.
  • Write leaving certificates and letters of recommendation for graduating or leaving students.
  • Maintain close liaison or collaboration with external organizations (e.g. the Hong Kong Federation of Youth Groups, the Guidance Teachers' Association, the Hong Kong Student Union, etc.) to introduce and make good use of external resources to support students' further studies and employment needs.
  • Coordinate scholarship and bursary applications.

 

Extracurricular Activities Group

purpose

  • Consolidate a harmonious and caring campus culture, enhance students' self-management abilities, cultivate a positive attitude towards life, and establish national identity.
  • Guide students to make good use of their spare time, serve the community and cultivate civic awareness.
  • Cultivate students' good moral character and establish a caring culture.
  • Strengthen the cooperation between teachers and students, cultivate students' sense of belonging to the school, and jointly build the core values of Sun Shuren.
  • Through group activities, students can understand how to treat others, learn leadership skills, and experience team spirit.
  • Promote students' personal development and enable them to develop their potential from their interests.
